Bias in News Coverage of Campaigns

Research has found that individual outlets (a particular newspaper, television station, or network) often show a bias toward one party or candidate. However, analysis of many studies found there is no consistent, overall bias in news coverage toward one party or the other (D’Alessio & Allen, 2001). Notice that this means individual voters, who probably read only one newspaper and watch only one network news channel, can receive biased coverage. However, the electorate in general receives balanced coverage.
